New Lanark Mills World Heritage Site (pictured here), a unique 18th century cotton spinning mill village set alongside the picturesque River Clyde, is inviting travel trade professionals attending April’s VisitScotland Expo to stop over at its on-site New Lanark Mill hotel.

The invitation comes as the hotel celebrates its 20th anniversary since opening in 1998 following a major rebuild and renovation of the building that was originally the village’s Mill No. 1. Bed and breakfast in the contemporary three-star 38-bedroom hotel is being offered for £79.

Guests will also be able to see ‘Artist Textiles – Picasso to Warhol’, an exhibition running until April 29, that traces the history of 20th century art in textiles and vintage fashion garments and features more than 200 rare, vintage fashion garments by Salvador Dalí, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol. The garments are being seen outside of London for the first time.

“In this anniversary year for the hotel we’re inviting travel trade professionals attending VisitScotland Expo to come and stay with us and see this wonderful world heritage site,” says John Stirrat, New Lanark Mill Hotel General Manager.

“We’re located about an hour from Glasgow and Edinburgh and about 20 minutes off the M74, so ideal as a stop-off either before or after the show, or as a base during the show itself. We’ll also be giving our travel trade guests the opportunity to take a free familiarisation visit around the site, including the opportunity to see our exciting new exhibition.

“We’re in an ideal location for group travel organisers looking for somewhere special for their groups to visit, either on a day trip to Edinburgh, Glasgow or the Borders, or as somewhere to stop-off as they head along the M74 between England and Scotland. We look forward to welcoming our travel trade colleagues to the hotel. After all, it isn’t every day you can wake up in a world heritage site!”
