Tourism South East has announced the appointment of a new Chief Executive.
Fran Downton, previously Head of Marketing at the successful regional tourism organisation, will take up the post from 1 February 2020. Fran brings with her a wealth of tourism experience from previous roles with P&O Ferries and the City of Portsmouth.
Tourism South East is one of the oldest and strongest tourism support organisations in the UK. The regional Tourist Board became a not-for-profit industry organisation in 2012 following the closure of the Regional Development Agencies. The highly experienced partnership organisation is dedicated to providing specialised tourism services and expertise to support the performance and growth of tourism businesses and destinations.
“As a passionate advocate of tourism and the diverse offering within the South East region, I am pleased to be able to bring a vast understanding of the industry to the role in support of taking the business forward,” says Fran. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to make a positive difference. In a challenging political and environmental climate, it is important to ensure that the tourism industry is strategically placed to deliver economic and sustainable growth.”
