Two porcupettes (the term for a baby porcupine) were a surprise for keepers at Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens in Burford, Oxfordshire, after their parents Hannah and Prickle – also newcomers to the park – hit it off. According to their keeper Estelle, “They were smitten with each other from day one!"
Keepers were hoping the pair would one day have their first litter but weren't expecting babies quite so soon. It's only the second time in Cotswold Wildlife Park's 49-year history that this species has successfully bred.
The twin boys have been named Boulder and Shrimpy by Estelle - Boulder is the larger, more confident baby and Shrimpy is his shier, smaller brother.
