Albatross Travel www.albatrosstravel.com has launched a new themed tour commemorating wartime London for groups visiting the capital in 2020.
The two-night packaged tour, available on selected dates next year, includes a visit to the Churchill War Rooms, which recently marked its 80th anniversary. Visitors will be treated to a fascinating underground journey explaining the workings of government during wartime and providing an insight into Churchill’s life. Also included in the tour are visits to the Imperial War Museum and the Household Cavalry Museum, a living museum dating from 1750, that is still occupied by the Queen’s personal guard today.
On day two there is an opportunity to visit the iconic Tower of London. During the First World War the moat at the Tower was used to swear in 1600 soldiers who became the 10th Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. A visit to the recently refurbished RAF Museum at Hendon, completes the itinerary. Accommodation is based at the four star London Bridge Hotel near Borough Market or the Park Plaza London River Bank Hotel on the Albert Embankment. “We are pleased to be presenting this new tour which neatly packages visits to some of London’s leading attractions and is based at two centrally located four star hotels,” says Denise Bridges Managing Director of Albatross Travel.
