Father Christmas returns for Raby Castle’s festivities…

Christmas at Raby Castle in County Durham will be bigger than ever this year with appearances by Santa’s real-life reindeer, Elvis the Shetland pony and an opportunity for children to enjoy breakfast pancakes cooked to Mrs Claus’ special recipe before joining Father Christmas for fireside stories.

Adults can experience the castle at Christmas too thanks to an exclusive afternoon tea event, which will be hosted in the Grand Entrance Hall where the roaring fire and huge tree will recreate the festive atmosphere of days gone by. There will also be a chance to glimpse some of the castle rooms all decorated for Christmas. This event is suitable for group bookings and will make a wonderful Christmas celebration for excursions and work colleagues looking for a more unique Christmas party this year.

Claire Jones of Raby Castle says: “Fireside Stories with Father Christmas sold out quickly last year so we have added extra dates, including after school and the option to include breakfast or high tea as part of the visit.

“Christmas at Raby Castle will be a magical experience for families with lots of treats for both adults and children plus a range of indoor crafts and activities to entertain excited visitors.”

A Christmas market will also take place on 8 and 9 December with market stalls, crafts, activities and real reindeer for the children to see. To find out more, call 01833 660202.
