Royal trainers William Haggas (pictured here), John and Thady Gosden and Sir Mark Prescott will open the doors of their stables this summer for three very special tours to mark the Coronation of King Charles III.

Discover Newmarket (01638 501122, https://discovernewmarket.co.uk) has been given the exclusive chance to offer three Royal Yard Tours, taking guests behind the scenes at these elite yards to meet the world-famous trainers who look after some of the horses owned by King Charles and Camilla, Queen Consort.

Guests will join their chosen trainer for a personal tour of the yard to see where the King and Queen Consort's horses in training are stabled and hear stories from the trainer's fascinating career. The full-day tours will also take in the sights of the home of horseracing, such as the hallowed training grounds, the Gallops. There will be a guided tour of the National Stud to view the resident stallions, including the legendary champion thoroughbred Stradivarius. Guests will also visit the National Horse Racing Museum, set on the former site of Charles II's Palace and Stables. There, they can find out more about the history of Newmarket, browse Royal racing silks and masterpieces of equine art by Sir Alfred Munnings and George Stubbs.

Along the way, luxury refreshments will be served, including brunch with a glass of fizz at Bedford Lodge Hotel's 2 AA Rosette Squires Restaurant and a cream tea at the museum's Tack Room restaurant.

There are just three dates available for these tours: 2 May with William Haggas at Somerville Lodge; 29 May with John and Thady Gosden at Clarehaven Stables; and 26 July with Sir Mark Prescott at Heath House Stables. The tours cost £165 per person.
