The team at group tour specialists On The Go Tours have been busy investigating the world’s big spenders – and their findings reveal the US is leading the way in terms of inbound tourism spend. Findings* include that fact that…

• $212.3 billion is spent by tourists visiting the US (that’s over $92 billion more than the next most-visited country, China)
• The Chinese spend the most on outbound tourism – a hefty $289.4 billion, followed by the Americans, who spend $151.4 billion
• Other big spenders on outbound tourism include Germany ($86.8 billion), the UK ($72.8 billion) and France ($47.8 billion)

* Findings based on World Travel and Tourism Council Data. On The Go Tours analysed the amount spent by 45 of the most visited countries, according to UN World Tourism Rankings, on outbound tourism and compared it to the amount spent on inbound tourism.
