GTW readers were among the first to visit the Tower of London’s epic Superbloom display. Emma Parkes reports...
It's BLOOMING MARVELLOUS (excuse the pun) to be back organising fam trips for our readers, and what better way to spend a sunny Tuesday morning than at the Tower of London to welcome in its Platinum Jubilee inspired Superbloom display. Met by a somewhat novel entry option (you can, if you dare, slide down the moat on a mat!), I declined but others in our group took great pleasure in literally throwing themselves into the spirit of the occasion. The moat surrounding the castle has been planted up with wildflowers and alliums to give new life and encourage more wildlife into this once-neglected space – in 1845 the moat was deemed a hazardous bog! We took a leisurely stroll to the tune of calming music, strolling under beautiful wicker archways and gazing at the delicate copper garden ornaments. The backdrop of Tower Bridge and the castle was a joy, and special ‘pods’ for luxury dinning have been dotted along the Thames for groups to hire. Head over in the next few months to see the flowers bloom into even more of a breath-taking view, as the festival runs until the end of September.
