Members of the travel trade visited Salisbury this week to reassure visitors that it was ‘business as usual’ following the world-wide media coverage the city had received earlier in the year.

Visit Wiltshire Travel Trade and PR Manager, Flo Wallace, arranged – with support from Steve Reed Tourism – for around 20 group travel organisers, tour planners, trade associations and media contacts to have an escorted tour around the city, including trips to Salisbury Cathedral, tours of Sarum College, Mompesson House, Salisbury Museum and The Rifles Wiltshire and Berkshire Museum.

The guided tour around the Cathedral included a new initiative for groups where they can watch and chat to Stonemasons at work.

The group were particularly impressed with the font in the Cathedral. Pictured here are members of the group and you can see the reflection of thousands of paper doves - a new installation which hangs from the cathedral roof.

Lunch was a short journey out of the city to an idyllic setting where the group enjoyed home-made quiche courtesy of the Britford Farm Shop before returning to explore more of the attractions in the city.

Group members also took on the challenge of The Live Escape - Spectre in the city, where teams had one hour to solve puzzles and find clues to enable them to ‘escape' from the locked rooms.
